World Outreach
Through Missions
First Baptist partners on many levels to support mission outreach to the larger world. Our major partners include:
COOPERATIVE BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP - a network of Baptist churches "doing missions in a world without borders."
BAPTIST GENERAL ASSOCIATION OF VIRGINIA - an association of Baptist churches across the state partnering for mission outreach to Virginia and to Baptist conventions in specific countries around the world.
HIGHLANDS BAPTIST ASSOCIATION - churches in a four county area surrounding Radford.
OUR MISSIONS GIVING CIRCLES THE GLOBE
First Baptist supports missionary endeavors around the globe with substantial financial giving. Fifteen percent of our operating budget is given to groups mentioned elsewhere on this page. Additional funds are provided locally for a clothing bank, a food bank, the Women's Resource Center, the Ministerial Emergency Fund, and the Baptist Student Union at Radford University.
Larry and Sarah Ballew and sons Joshua and Nathanael make their home in Macau, China. With historical ties to us, First Baptist supports their work among the native population, training indigenous church leadership, nurturing young Christians, and making new friends through various hospitality ministries. First Baptist and the Ballews are partners in a covenant to mutually support and pray for one another.
HANDS ON MISSIONS
First Baptist sends work groups out from the congregation annually to locations in the United States and around the world. In the last two years, a medical team served in Afghanistan, an adult team worked in the Czech Republic, and two youth teams and a college student team served on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota.
