Youth Mission Project Collecting Lowe's Cards
Our youth will be in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi from July 19 to July 27 working in the continuing effort to rebuild after Hurricane Katrina.  The team is not expected to provide tools or building material, however Mission on the Bay, our partnering organization, is in need of Lowe's gift cards for purchasing supplies to assist in the rebuilding efforts. If you wish to support our teens through this project, you may purchase a Lowes gift card of any amount, or designate your monetary gift for Bay St. Louis Mission and drop it by the church office.

Disaster Preparedness Team Meeting
The Disaster Preparedness Team will meet Sunday afternoon, May 18, in the Conference Room at 5:00 pm.  The group is working to develop a plan for our church to respond effectively in community crisis situations, in conjunction with local First Responder comprehensive planning.  Today's meeting will focus on helping church members be prepared at home.

Church Council to Meet
Representatives to the Church Council are reminded of the meeting scheduled for Monday night, May 19.  Please meet in the Conference Room at 7:00 pm.

African Student Enters 2nd Year Med School
Jan and Shirley Levy report that Alex Kitumo has successfully completed his first year of medical school in Tanzania, having passed his university examinations.  Those who have committed to supporting him, and all others who would like to make a contribution for his second year, are encouraged to do so during May, as his tuition payments will be due in June.  You may mark your contributions "Alex Kitumo Fund," with checks made payable to First Baptist Church.
